Discovering Chiapas, México

Chiapas is one of the most beautiful states of the Mexican Republic, each state has its unique charm, however this particular state is very representative, is located in the southwest of Mexico, its capital is Tuxtla Gutierrez which is also the most populated city.


To get to the state of Chiapas you can do it by land or air, the main airport is “Angel Albino Corzo” located in the capital.

Tuxtla Gutiérrez

It is the capital of the state, finding accommodation here is very simple, there are many hotels according to the preferences of the client, do not forget that it is one of the hottest cities in the Mexican Republic where temperatures can reach 40 ° C between months of April and May.

There are a variety of places to see such as: St. Mark’s Cathedral, the City Theater and the Convention Center. The gastronomy of the state is exquisite and the offerings of restaurants are not lacking.



Cañón Del Sumidero

You can find this wonderful place only about 5 km from Tuxtla Gutierrez, as its name is a canyon that has a height of 1000 m above sea level;  According to studies this geological fault arose 12 million years ago. This place is undoubtedly one of the most touristic places of the state that is why in December 1980 was declared as “National Park Cañón Del Sumidero”.

Cascadas de Agua Azul 

This extraordinary place has been formed thanks to a river called “Agua Azul” which forms waterfalls that create natural pools. This place counts different types of services according to the necessities and interests of the tourist, among them they are: the rent of cabins, restaurants and shops of local handicrafts.

To get here, you can do it thanks to the fact that many companies offer the service, if you do not know the place and decide to do it on your own, it is recommended to follow the indications and not to cross beyond the limits, it is also recommended to carry insect repellent .

It is an ancient Mayan city, right in the middle of the “La Candona Jungle”, in 1987 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.



Chiapa de Corzo 

Site declared as Magical Town thanks to its culture, this small town is located approximately to 15 km of the capital Tuxtla Gutiérrez; Chiapa de Corzo was the first city founded by the Spanish.

Famous city for its gastronomy and its variety of chapels, as well as its embroideries that make of this place full of color and tradition.



San Cristóbal de las Casas

It is a must stop in this wonderful state, every year thousands of tourists come from all over the world to meet the magic of this city.

It was founded in 1528, today is a very intercultural cosmopolitan city; Jade and amber are typical of the region.
